Fraudsters take $10,000 in purchases and withdraws from Victoria resident
May 28, 2026Saanich Police are seeking the public’s help to identify suspects involved in a fraud that resulted in more than $10,000 in unauthorized purchases and withdrawals.
The victim received several phone calls from individuals claiming to be from their bank and warning of a security breach. During these calls, the suspects obtained the victim’s banking and phone information, allowing them to disable the victim’s SIM card.
The suspects then convinced the victim to meet in person and hand over their bank cards.
The suspect who met with the victim is described as:
- South Asian male
- Thin build
- Short brown hair
- Severe acne
- Wearing a white T‑shirt
- Driving a white, newer‑model Toyota Camry
After obtaining the cards, the suspects made over $10,000 in purchases and cash withdrawals.
CCTV footage also captured a second suspect, described as:
- Black male
- Wearing a red baseball cap
- Medical mask
- Light blue sweatshirt
- Black T‑shirt
