Human Trafficking happens in plain sight
June 12, 2026Major events like the FIFA World Cup increase the volume of people moving through BC transit hubs, entertainment districts, hotels, and busy walkways. It’s important to stay aware of those around you. Human trafficking often happens in plain sight and small signs can mean a lot.
What to watch for:
Someone who seems controlled, coached, or unable to speak freely.
A person who doesn’t know where they are or avoids eye contact.
Someone who is escorted everywhere, even to the washroom.
A person with no access to their own ID, money, or phone.
If you’re a victim or in immediate danger, contact police.
